Where Engineering
to face climate

WHERE ENGINEERING TO FACE CLIMATE CHANGE TURNS INTO REALITY
- As part of the overall concept for Hamburg's four Innovation Parks, 'Tech City' in Harburg is to be developed along the lines of Science City in Bahrenfeld and the locations in Finkenwerder and Bergedorf.
- The initiative is part of the coalition agreement of Hamburg’s current government.
- Central coordination is to be provided by a consortium of local stakeholders in cooperation with Hamburg Invest – forming the local admin & office.
- The innovation district stretches from the A7 motorway in Bostelbek to the A1 motorway in Neuland, while also serving as a hub connecting Hamburg with the northern districts of Lower Saxony.
- The heart of the innovation district is the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) with its Cluster of Excellence 'BlueMat: Water-Driven Materials'.

INSTANT START POP-UP-LAB
- Even before any structural modifications are made, the site can be activated step by step through modular container
laboratories operated by TUHH. These mobile units make it possible to provide research and demonstration facilities at short notice and to launch initial projects directly on site.
- The container laboratories create visible anchor points for research, technology transfer and collaboration. Pilot projects, material testing, robotic demonstrations and AI-supported process development can be carried out at an early stage under real-world site conditions. At the same time, they provide industry partners, funding bodies and the public with a tangible vision of how the site will be used in the future.
- This makes the HF site a visible innovation location from day one. Not merely a vision for the future, but the beginning of real-world operations.
HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE.
- We are looking for like-minded partners and supporters: Our credo is THINK BIG. We want to achieve great things, shape what is new and push boundaries. We need you to do this – because only together can we achieve our goals.
Join a unique alliance of stakeholders from Hamburg’s innovation ecosystem.
- We want to launch our initiative as quickly as possible: The HF site is to be activated step by step through TUHH’s modular container laboratories, with the first projects starting in 2026. This will make the HF site tangible as a
place of innovation – not as a distant prospect, but as the beginning of real-world operations.
Be part of it from the very beginning.
GET ACTIVE – TOGETHER
LET’S SHAPE THE FUTURE!
Your visions and wishes are
important to us – every perspective counts!
